Job summary

Radiant in El Segundo, CA, seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer, Controls to own designs from requirements capture to operation for nuclear microreactor control and measurement systems. You’ll work across hardware, interfaces, and fault-tolerant assemblies with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safety and reliability.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
• 5+ years designing electrical hardware.
• Experience designing fault-tolerant and safety-critical hardware.
• Experience with Ethernet, EtherCAT, Modbus, CANbus, RS-422 or other protocols.
• Experience selecting sensors (pressure transducers, RTDs, thermocouples, speed/position, MEMS).
• Experience using AutoCAD Electrical or Zuken for schematic/wiring design.
• Experience with industrial power systems (120/208/480 VAC) and safety practices.
• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience specifying and integrating VFDs, soft starters, MCCs.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support architecture, design, implementation, and testing of microreactor electrical control systems.
• Design and develop industrial electrical control hardware including schematics, wiring diagrams, harnessing, and integration assemblies.
• Lead design of fault-tolerant and safety-critical electrical systems, emphasizing reliability, maintainability, and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and review electrical interface designs between control systems, power equipment, and instrumentation.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable electrical codes and safety standards including NFPA and NEC requirements.
• Perform SCCR and Arc Flash calculations.
