Job summary

Radiant, an El Segundo, CA-based startup, seeks a Senior Automation & Controls Engineer to design, build, and implement automated production and test equipment for mass production and refueling of our nuclear microreactor technology.

You will work closely with design and manufacturing engineers to develop robust PLC code, electrical systems, and HMI interfaces, ensuring safety standards and readiness for high-volume manufacturing while supporting continuous improvement in a cutting-edge field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, physics, or CS.
• 4+ years designing and commissioning automation and controls for industrial applications.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and manage automation projects for mass production.
• Architect, write, and debug PLC code for high-volume manufacturing.
• Ensure ANSI/RIA R15.06 and OSHA-compliant robot and equipment safety.
• Design electrical systems per NEC, NFPA, UL508A.
• Select and size servo motors and controllers.
• Manage electrical cabinets, field wiring, pneumatics and plumbing.
• Create simple HMIs for complex machines.
