Job summary

Sapphire Technologies seeks a Senior Electrical Compliance Engineer to lead certification strategy and electrical safety compliance for turboexpander generator systems and power electronics. You will work with engineering teams to meet UL, CSA, CE, and other regulatory requirements, coordinating with testing laboratories and leading certification activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years experience in regulatory compliance or product certification.
• Strong knowledge of UL, CSA, IEC, and EN electrical safety standards.
• Experience certifying industrial electrical equipment or power electronics.
• Experience working directly with UL, TÜV, CSA, Intertek, or other NRTLs.

Responsibilities

• Define certification strategies with timelines and milestones for new and existing products.
• Identify applicable safety and regulatory standards early in the design process.
• Develop certification plans, gap-analysis, schedules, traceability, and required testing programs and reports.
• Interpret and ensure compliance with relevant global standards including IEEE 1547, UL 1741, UL 508A / UL 508C, UL 1004, NFPA 70, CE Marking, LVD, Machinery Directive, EMC Directive, IEC/EN standards, CSA standards.
• Lead design for compliance reviews of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, embedded firmware, and system architecture.
• Evaluate creepage and clearance distances and implement design changes to comply.
• Assess insulation and grounding strategies; verify protective features and safe shutdown.
• Coordinate and lead certification testing with NRTLs and international bodies; develop test plans; support testing programs.
• Address certification findings and implement design changes; maintain CE technical files and declarations of conformity.
