Job summary

Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) in Berkeley, CA, seeks an experienced Electrical CAD Designer to support the ALS-U project. You will develop detailed electrical designs, schematics, models, and manufacturing-ready documentation, collaborating closely with electrical and mechanical engineers and manufacturing teams.

The role requires strong CAD experience, BOMs, and integration with PLM/PDM systems.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting/Design, or a related technical discipline.
• 5+ years of professional experience producing electrical CAD designs.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, KiCad, or equivalent software.
• Experience developing manufacturing-ready electrical documentation including BOMs and wire/cable schedules.
• Experience maintaining revision-controlled documentation within a PLM or PDM system.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain electrical CAD models, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using project-approved CAD software.
• Develop manufacturing-ready electrical documentation to support fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation.
• Prepare and maintain BOMs, wire lists, and cable schedules.
• Review designs and incorporate engineering changes and feedback.
• Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to meet project requirements.
• Maintain organized CAD files and revision-controlled documentation.
• Work within Windchill/PLM systems and ensure compliance with standards.
