Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) is seeking a Senior Electronics Engineering Associate to independently lead complex technical assignments and oversee design, integration, operation, and modernization of electrical, electronic, control, and instrumentation systems supporting ALS/ALS-U and other projects.

The role requires advanced technical ownership, strong troubleshooting, documentation, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across the Engineering Division.

Qualifications

• Five years of progressively responsible professional experience in electrical/electronics engineering or related fields.
• Bachelor-level technical education or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to execute complex technical assignments independently.
• Strong practical knowledge across electrical, electronics, instrumentation, controls, or system integration.

Responsibilities

• Independently lead complex technical assignments, systems, projects, and work packages from planning through closeout.
• Apply advanced expertise to design, integration, operation, testing, and modernization of related systems.
• Translate requirements into practical designs, work packages, installation requirements, and test procedures.
• Develop schematics, wiring diagrams, one-lines, cable documentation, layouts, and specifications.
• Perform investigations, testing, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis to improve performance.
