Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical CAD Designer to support the Advanced Light Source Upgrade (ALS-U) project at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory. This role will develop detailed electrical designs, schematics, models, and manufacturing-ready documentation that translate engineering concepts into producible products.

The ideal candidate will have strong electrical CAD experience and the ability to create documentation while collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers,

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience producing electrical CAD designs.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical, Autodesk Inventor, KiCad or equivalent.
• Experience developing BOMs and wire/cable schedules; revision-controlled docs in PLM/PDM systems.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain electrical CAD models, schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layouts using project-approved CAD software.
• Develop detailed, manufacturing-ready electrical documentation to support fabrication, assembly, testing, and installation.
• Prepare and maintain BOMs, wire lists, and cable schedules and related engineering documentation.
• Review designs and incorporate engineering feedback and approved changes.
• Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers, project managers, and manufacturing personnel to meet project requirements.
• Support integration of electrical and mechanical designs and product assemblies.
• Participate in design coordination and technical design reviews as needed.
• Maintain organized CAD files and revision-controlled engineering documentation.
• Work within Windchill, PLM/PDM systems and other document-control systems.
• Ensure designs comply with industry standards and project requirements.
