Job Description Overview

Powell is an engineered-to-order manufacturer of switchgear and electrical equipment for the power industry.

We are currently seeking a skilled Electrical Assembler to join our team at our facility located in Houston, TX, 77075.

The Electrical Assembler will perform various duties in power control rooms, including bending, running, installing, and terminating electrical conduit.

*1st & 2nd shift openings*

1st shift: Mon-Thurs 5:00am-3:30pm plus OT

2nd shift: Mon-Thurs 3:00pm-1:30am plus OT

Essential Responsibilities

• Install electrical devices (disconnects, lights, panel boards, transformers, battery chargers, lighting contactors, VFDs, etc.)
• Bend, run, and install conduit (EMT and Rigid)
• Install wire way
• Install cable tray
• Pull wire and large cable
• Cut, strip, crimp, and terminate wires
• Install wiring following standard work/process instructions (NEC Manual)
• Learn and adhere to all safety policies and practices to avoid safety incidents
• Learn and adhere to all manufacturing policies and practices to ensure consistent production
• Ensure quality by following standard work/process instructions and identifying potential risks to product quality

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• 5 years of relevant manufacturing experience
• Proficiency in written and verbal English
• Ability to bend conduit on a GB Sidewinder style bender (EMT and Rigid)

Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements

• Experience installing cable tray and wire way
• Ability to crimp and terminate wires
• Ability to read drawings or blueprints
• Working knowledge of electricity, circuits, and common components (panel boards, transformers, disconnects, terminal blocks, relays, lighting contactors, etc.)
• Ability to perform tasks with minimal supervision
• Knowledge of relevant NEC Code sections
• Basic mathematical skills
• Knowledge of air, hand, and power tools
• Basic mechanical knowledge
• Ability to read a tape measure
• Meet or exceed established productivity run rates

Working & Environmental Conditions

• Lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally
• Constant standing
• Working from ladders and climbing
• Working overhead and in cramped quarters
