Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to lead electrical system design across its product portfolio. This product-focused senior individual contributor role requires broad expertise in power systems, electrical design, and standards compliance.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in electrical engineering required or equivalent experience.
• Expert knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IEC and UL standards applicable to electrical equipment.
• Ability to produce and review SLDs, schematics and electrical specifications at product level.
• Willingness to travel up to 20% for prototype testing and product commissioning.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the technical authority for electrical system design across product lines.
• Lead architectural design including power distribution, protection coordination and grounding strategy.
• Verify designs via standards, specifications and review frameworks (NFPA 70, IEEE, ANSI, UL).
• Establish verification methods to demonstrate compliance (analytical, simulation, testing).
• Perform and review load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection, EMI and surge studies.
• Lead design reviews and root cause analyses for new development and field issues.
• Compile and validate SLDs, specs and compliance documentation.
• Recommend vendors, components and design approaches for key equipment.
• Mentor senior and mid-level engineers within Hardware Engineering.
