Job summary

Process in Houston, TX is seeking a Senior E&I Engineer to join our PSM-regulated site. You will be the senior EI&C resource on site working across maintenance, reliability, and projects.

You will support safe, reliable operation through design, maintenance, and continuous improvement of process control systems, instrumentation, and electrical distribution. On the controls side, design, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining DCS, PLC, HMI, and process historian hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Controls Engineering; 7–15 years ideal.
• Experience on a chemical/refining/LNG site.

Responsibilities

• Design, maintain, and improve process control systems, instrumentation, and electrical distribution equipment.

Job description

We're working with a chemical manufacturer in Houston TX to find a Senior E&I Engineer to join their PSM-regulated site. You will be the senior EI&C resource on site working across maintenance, reliability, and projects.

You'll support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the facility through the design, maintenance, and continuous improvement of process control systems, automation, instrumentation, and electrical distribution equipment.

On the controls and automation side, this means designing, configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining DCS, PLC, HMI, and process historian hardware, developing and modifying control logic, graphics, alarms, and operator interfaces. You'll manage control system backups and documentation, implement upgrades and migrations, and analyze process data to improve control, efficiency, and reliability. You'll also support commissioning and startup of new equipment and lead root cause investigations when issues arise.

You'll also drive maintenance, testing, and reliability programs for controls, instrumentation, and electrical distribution equipment, support troubleshooting of electrical failures, and provide technical support during shutdowns and turnarounds. There's a mentorship element too, supporting co-ops, interns, and less experienced engineers.

As well as maintenance & reliability, you will be a key technical resource for projects. You'll lead and support controls, instrumentation, and electrical projects from concept through startup and closeout, developing scopes, specifications, cost estimates, and schedules, and coordinating with contractors and suppliers throughout.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related subject.


• Minimum of 5 years experience in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Controls Engineering. 7-15 years is ideal.


• Experience on a chemical/refining/LNG site

Compensation is $130-170k + bonus (dependent on experience).

Must be in Houston or open to relocating (with assistance).

Full-time on-site role - no hybrid or remote.

Must be able to work in the USA without sponsorship or assistance.
