Job summary

Avangrid is seeking a Lead Engineer for Electric System Engineering to oversee protection and automation in transmission and substation systems across its network. The role focuses on ensuring compliance with NESC, FERC, NERC, NPCC, NYISO, and other standards while leading design, auditing, and process improvements.

The candidate will mentor engineers, review contractor work, and coordinate with NPCC and state regulators.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control and Automation Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• Advanced knowledge of power system protection theory and analysis.
• Familiarity with protection relays and common industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Define, review, and maintain standards for transmission and distribution substations control and automation.
• Analyze and propose engineering solutions for substation networking and SCADA communications.
• Review and approve work of engineering contractors.
• Define and update internal processes and performance indicators.
• Audit internal processes to verify compliance with standards and regulations.
• Travel to worksites as needed.
