Job summary

The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB Health) seeks a Senior Safety Specialist to lead and execute Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs in line with regulatory guidelines and institutional policies.

You will mentor junior staff, develop and deliver training to faculty and staff, oversee inspections, and engage with principal investigators and UTMB leadership to drive safe work practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in environmental, natural, or applied science or related field and 3 years related experience.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Must complete 24- or 40-hour HAZWOPER certification within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Independently plans, develops, trains, and implements diversified EHS programs.
• Provides customer service and consultation on safety compliance.
• Develops systems that prevent problems from arising.
• Directly interacts with faculty and other groups to achieve desired outcomes.
• Assists with regulatory inspections and maintains safety records.
