Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in safety or related field with a minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience preferred.
• Associate's Degree in Safety or related field with 10 years of experience in safety and a minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience.
• Must have knowledge of DoD, OSHA, BATFE, Virginia Health Department, NRC and NFPA regulations.
• Working experience in explosives/pyrotechnics preferred.
• ISO 45000 for OH&S management experience preferred.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar credentials preferred.
• Time management and multi-tasking abilities.
• Ability to communicate well at all levels, internal and external to the organization.
• Courteous, tactful, objective; safety, quality, production, and service objectives.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance and direction for the Safety and Health Department for PBG.
• Implement, obtain, and maintain ISO 45000 certification for PBG.
• Oversee and manage Safety Inspectors.
• Ensure all safety manuals, programs, policies, and practices are current.
• Responsible for employee and contractor safety orientation.
• Perform safety and health audits.
• Chair the Plant Process Control Board.
• Lead the investigation of near-miss incidents, accidents, and injuries.
• Prepare materials and evidence for insurance investigations.
• Maintain workers compensation claims and related documents.
• Perform Job Description Analyses for all positions including return-to-work considerations.
• Act as liaison with workers compensation carrier.
• Assist HR with workers compensation and return-to-work programs.
• Select appropriate PPE when needed.
• Establish and report safety and health metrics.
• Plan and track safety training, inspections, and audits.
• Ensure Safety meetings and Safety Committee meetings occur as scheduled.
• Support ISO and Quality Management System in safety-related matters.
• Contribute to the effectiveness of the Quality Management System.
• Communicate Quality Policy and objectives to direct reports.
• Participate in annual ISO documentation reviews.
• Participate in contract reviews and evaluations as needed.
• Complete scheduled Performance Reviews for direct reports.
• Approve time sheets and vacation requests for direct reports.
• Coordinate with HR on safety-related communications.
