Job summary

Nassau Candy Distributors, Inc. is seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead safety programs for its New York manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution facilities.

You will develop and maintain regulatory-compliant safety policies, conduct inspections, and investigate incidents to reduce injuries and losses. This role partners with Operations, Manufacturing, Facilities, HR, Quality, and site leadership to implement practical safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field preferred.
• 5–8 years of progressive EHS experience, preferably within manufacturing, food production, warehousing, or distribution.
• Experience managing safety programs across multiple facilities preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and New York State workplace safety requirements.
• Experience with workers’ compensation reporting, claim submissions, workplace injury investigations, and root‑cause analysis.
• Experience maintaining OSHA logs and required safety documentation.
• Experience developing and delivering safety training to hourly employees, supervisors, and managers.
• Strong investigative, organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work effectively with employees and management at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to regularly travel between Nassau Candy’s New York facilities.
• Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
• CSP, ASP, OSHA, or other relevant safety certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead EHS programs across Nassau Candy’s New York facilities.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
• Develop, implement, maintain, and update safety policies and programs.
• Conduct routine inspections and audits to identify unsafe conditions and practices.
• Develop corrective-action plans with department leadership.
• Maintain EHS records, permits, logs, and regulatory documentation.
• Coordinate regulatory inspections and respond to compliance matters.
• Stay current on regulatory changes and recommend updates to practices.
• Lead investigations of workplace accidents and injuries.
• Conduct root-cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
• Manage workers’ compensation claims and required documentation.
• Coordinate with HR, supervisors, and insurers on claims.
• Monitor open claims and support documentation gathering.
• Collaborate on return-to-work and modified-duty opportunities.
• Analyze injury trends and reduce injuries and claims.
• Maintain OSHA 300, 301, and 300A records and reporting.
• Develop and conduct safety training for staff and managers.
• Coordinate safety meetings and trainings with HR.
