Job summary

Workplace is seeking an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead compliance and risk management for our foundry and manufacturing operations. The role requires deep knowledge of water discharge regulations, air permitting, and chemical management, with established ties to IEPA and the City of Rockford.

The position blends strategic oversight with hands-on execution to exceed safety, environmental stewardship, and community trust expectations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Chemical Engineering, or related field required.
• Professional certifications (CSP, CHMM, CIH) preferred.
• Minimum 7+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience in a manufacturing environment; foundry experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance & Permitting: manage air, wastewater, and stormwater permits and ensure IEPA/local compliance.
• Liaise with IEPA inspectors, city officials, and environmental agencies; maintain proactive relationships.
• Chemical Management & Safety: oversee chemical handling, storage, and disposal programs.
• Monitor exposure risks, tolerance thresholds, and mitigation strategies for worker safety and regulatory compliance.
• Develop and maintain Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) programs, SDS documentation, and training.
• Risk Identification & Mitigation: assess environmental and occupational hazards in foundry processes; implement mitigation strategies and corrective actions.
• Lead incident investigations and root-cause analyses to drive continuous improvement.
• Program Development & Training: develop EHS policies, training, and audit programs; partner with operations to foster accountability.
