Job summary

Lyten is seeking an experienced EHS Staff Professional to provide technical leadership for safety, environmental compliance, and risk management across battery manufacturing operations at our San Leandro facility. You will partner with Engineering, Construction, Facilities, and Operations to embed EHS principles into design, commissioning, ramp-up, and expansion projects.

As a senior contributor, you will lead risk assessments (HAZOP, PHA, FMEA, JHA, PSSR), establish scalable EHS standards, and

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant technical field and 5+ years of EHS experience in battery manufacturing, automotive, chemical manufacturing, energy storage or advanced manufacturing OR Bachelor’s degree with 7+ years of experience.
• Experience supporting projects from design and construction through commissioning, startup, and production operations.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, hazardous materials, industrial hygiene, process safety, and machine safety requirements.
• Proven ability to lead complex risk assessments and influence engineering and operational decisions.
• Basic understanding of Lean, Six Sigma, or Agile is desired.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the EHS technical lead for facility design, capital projects, manufacturing processes, and operational readiness.
• Conduct and facilitate comprehensive risk assessments (HAZOP, PHA, FMEA, JHA, PSSR).
• Partner with Engineering and Operations to identify hazards and implement controls.
• Support commissioning and startup activities to ensure equipment and processes are safe and compliant.
• Lead EHS readiness and risk management during ramp and expansion projects.
• Develop and maintain EHS standards, procedures, and governance systems for multiple facilities.
• Travel between Lyten facilities ~10–20%.
