Job summary

Merck is seeking a senior EHS professional to lead the Industrial Hygiene program at West Point, PA. You will integrate IH into daily operations, drive regulatory compliance, and partner with operations and research to align EH&S with site business goals.

The role requires 5–8 years in IH within pharma/biotech, strong knowledge of IH monitoring, risk assessment, and incident investigations, plus excellent communication and project management skills. Hybrid work, competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5-8 years of work experience in industrial hygiene in pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical, biotechnology or related industry preferred.
• Proficient knowledge of relevant regulations, sampling methods, mathematical skills, critical thinking, problem solving and project management.
• Excellent communication skills, people skills, and proficient organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manages and implements overall Industrial Hygiene Program for research laboratories, pilot plants, manufacturing, office environments and facility related support.
• Anticipates, recognizes, and evaluates workplace health hazards and recommends proper control strategies to manage identified risks.
• Completes industrial hygiene hazard assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and incident investigations.
• Completes industrial hygiene monitoring and reports, prioritizing IH-related risks and developing corrective and preventive actions.
• Reviews processes, facilities, procedures and management of change documents to assure conformance to EHS regulations, standards and guidelines.
• Provides support to client groups in completing injury/illness analysis, training, self-assessments and addressing EHS concerns.
• Develops EHS procedures, guidelines and training programs as assigned.
• Monitors safety performance indicators and promotes EHS policies and initiatives.
• Develops and supports incident and near miss analysis, training and self-assessments.
• Supports site teams to solve company-wide IH challenges.
