Job summary

onsemi is seeking an experienced Staff Environmental Health & Safety Engineer for their East Fishkill facility in Hopewell Junction, NY. The role leads EHS risk ownership, regulatory compliance, and data-driven problem solving across engineering, facilities, and operations.

The candidate will manage incident investigations, tool installation/decommissioning oversight, and construction safety with limited travel, while ensuring ISO 14001/45001 and OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Science as listed.
• 6+ years of progressively responsible experience in semiconductor manufacturing, high-hazard facilities, or equivalent.
• Proven knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Experience making risk-based decisions and defending them with data and rationale.
• Limited travel as required.

Responsibilities

• Act as technical authority and risk owner for EHS.
• Partner with engineering, facilities, and operations leadership weekly to identify risks and drive corrective actions.
• Lead complex incident investigations and near-miss reviews with data-driven analysis.
• Oversee EHS for tool installation, modification, qualification, and decommissioning, aligning with SEMI S2 and OSHA.
• Lead construction safety, contractor oversight, and energy control and hazardous systems risk management.
• Maintain audit-ready compliance for ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and OSHA.
• Direct regulatory compliance assurance beyond checklists.
• Analyze EHS data and trends to identify systemic risk and drive prevention.
• Lead cross-functional teams in risk reduction and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Prepare and submit EHS reports and permit documentation.
• Represent site during regulatory inspections and inquiries.
