Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer – Level 3 or 4 in San Diego, CA. This 100% on-site role supports the Mission Enabling Products organization within Space Systems, operating on a 9/80 schedule with every other Friday off.

You will interpret regulations, implement EHS programs, and collaborate with leaders to foster a safe culture while ensuring compliance and risk mitigation. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5 years of professional experience or Master’s with 3 years or PhD with 1 year (or 4+ years of experience in lieu).
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to perform duties without direct supervision.
• Experience with PPE assessments and job hazard analysis.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Strong collaboration across organizational levels.
• Willingness to travel as needed.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret EHS regulations for site applicability and impact.
• Assist with implementing programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Partner with leaders to improve EHS culture, awareness, and accountability.
• Develop and maintain EHS programs for compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
• Communicate EHS requirements and coordinate initiatives with stakeholders.
• Support implementation of EHS management systems at site level.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and submit reports.
• Write and update EHS plans and procedures; manage permits.
