Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in San Diego seeks an Environmental Health and Safety Engineer – Level4 to manage and oversee the EH&S program for personnel, equipment, and facilities.

This role requires extensive EHS experience, regulatory knowledge, and collaboration with business leaders to strengthen the safety culture. Key responsibilities include interpreting regulations, implementing compliance programs, managing hazardous materials, and leading investigations.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of EHS experience with a B.S.; more with advanced degrees.
• Proven ability to collaborate across organizational levels.
• Strong problem solving using safety principles and data.
• Experience in manufacturing EHS environments.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and interprets EHS regulations to determine site applicability.
• Assist with implementing programs to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Partner with leaders to improve EHS culture, awareness, and accountability.
• Develop and maintain EHS programs for compliance, injury prevention, and risk mitigation.
• Communicate requirements, identify issues, and coordinate initiatives with stakeholders.
• Implement site-level EHS management systems and train employees.
• Liaise with regulatory agencies and submit reports timely.
• Write and update EHS plans and obtain/renew permits.
• Conduct inspections and drive corrective actions.
• Coordinate EHS training and share best practices across regions.
• Support site changes to meet new environmental and safety requirements.
• Manage hazardous materials inventory, storage, and waste shipments; oversee spill control.
• Lead accident/injury investigation and reporting.
