Job summary

Nextpower is seeking a Safety Engineer to develop, implement, and continuously improve environmental, health, and safety (EHS) programs supporting manufacturing, testing, commissioning, and field operations. This role will help ensure employees, contractors, facilities, and operations are protected through effective risk identification, engineering controls, safe work practices, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• 8+ years of related industrial, manufacturing, or engineering safety experience; or 6+ years with a Master’s degree.
• Experience with electrical and high-voltage safety, including energized work and high-power test systems.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, LOTO requirements, machine safety, and contractor safety practices.
• Ability to independently evaluate complex safety issues and develop practical solutions.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills with cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain EHS programs, procedures, and safe work practices.
• Provide technical guidance for high-voltage safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO).
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Assess hazards and design risk-reduction measures for large equipment and processes.
• Deliver safety training and support ongoing employee and contractor safety awareness.
• Ensure OSHA compliance and contractor safety practices; collaborate with internal teams and CM safety groups.
