Job summary

Cooler Master USA is seeking a Senior EH&S Specialist to lead day-to-day environmental, health, and safety operations at our Fremont, CA facility.

You will develop policies, ensure regulatory compliance, manage hazardous materials, and lead training and incident investigations to foster a safe manufacturing environment.

Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Senior EH&S Specialist to support our growing manufacturing operations in Fremont, CA.

The Senior EH&S Specialist will be responsible for managing day-to-day EH&S activities at our facility and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role will work closely with our Operations, Engineering, Facilities, HR, and global teams to identify workplace hazards, implement effective safety programs, manage environmental and hazardous material requirements, and maintain a safe and compliant manufacturing environment.

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Fremont, CA, with an opportunity to play a key role in building and improving EH&S practices as our manufacturing operations continue to grow.

Role & Responsibilities:
  • Develop, implement and maintain environmental, health and safety policies and procedures in compliance with all relevant regulations, including but not limited to OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA
  • Where applicable, develop and implement EH&S training strategies and conduct trainings
  • Assist with management of product and process-related chemical elements
  • Facilitate Safety Committee and participate in customer feedback sessions as they relate to the installation, maintenance, and safe operations of our products, including considerations for chemical and wastewater disposal
  • Assess potential workplace hazards and risks, including general employee safety, and work with Safety Committee to develop strategies and implement safety measures to mitigate them
  • Own EH&S related documentation such as hazardous waste manifest and profiles, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Safety Data Sheets (SDS), handling procedures, storage and recycling, and disposal of biohazardous, and hazardous wastes
  • Assist in the development and implementation of all company operations concerning the fire, emergency, safety, and environmental programs
  • Own and maintain the inventory and storage of hazardous materials in accordance with appropriate regulations, policies, practices, and procedures including applicable reports
  • Maintain accurate data for Chemical Inventory in the buildings and the maintenance of MSDS online library
  • Oversee the storage of hazardous waste and materials in accordance with appropriate regulations, policies, practices, and procedures
  • Provide training on EH&S programs, including but not limited to Powered Industrial Trucks (Forklifts), Hazardous Waste Disposal, product wastewater monitoring, new hire orientation and employee safety training
  • Ensure company compliance and appropriate reporting of hazardous materials inventory to outside agencies
  • Oversee and coordinate company or consultant crew’s activities during an incident response and clean-up
  • Serve as the liaison between company and relevant government agencies
  • Promote a safe working environment for employees, monitor for safe working practices and manage Illness and Injury Prevention Plan and Workplace Violence Prevention Plan
  • Manage incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and ensure conformance
  • Other job duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field preferred, with 5+ years of relevant EH&S experience; equivalent experience or EH&S certification with 8–10 years of progressive experience will also be considered. First Aid, CPR, AED certified
  • 1-3 years of experience supporting safety and/or environmental programs in a manufacturing or regulated environment is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, Cal/OSHA and EPA regulations, and standard manufacturing safety programs (HazCom, LOTO, PPE, incident investigation).
  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001 preferred
  • Implement a Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response program
  • Knowledge of international environmental health and safety regulations such as WEEE, RoHS, China RoHS3is a plus
  • General understanding of chemical management and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Experience coordinating safety training, conducting inspections, JSAs, and incident or near miss investigations.
  • Must be proactive, hands-on, self-motivated, and able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities
  • May be exposed to constant activity that requires intermittent standing, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, lifting/moving/carrying (Up to 25 lbs lifting required)

For Pay Transparency-Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $85,000 - $120,000 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location.
