The role demands 5+ years of relevant editorial experience, idea origination, and strong collaboration skills with a focus on delivering original and compelling book concepts.

This position encompasses responsibilities from acquisitions to editorial management and cross-functional leadership while fostering creative partnerships with authors and agents. The salary range is $70,000 to $90,000, with a hybrid work model in place.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of book publishing editorial experience, with meaningful acquisitions responsibility.
• Proven track record acquiring and/or editing successful commercial fiction.
• Strong knowledge of horror, mystery, suspense, and adjacent genre fiction markets.

Responsibilities

• Acquire approximately 8–10 titles annually across fiction and select nonfiction categories.
• Edit acquired manuscripts through all stages: developmental editing to production handoff.
• Partner with Marketing, Publicity, Design, Production, and Sales to maximize title performance.
