Job summary

A leading publishing company is seeking a senior editor to acquire and edit approximately 10–15 original fantasy and science fiction titles each year. The ideal candidate will have over 5 years of experience in publishing, strong editing skills, and excellent literary agent contacts. Responsibilities include participating in the entire publishing process and collaborating closely with authors and marketing teams. An annual salary of $80,000–$90,000 is offered for this position.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in publishing or equivalent.
• Familiarity with the science fiction and fantasy marketplace.
• Managerial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Acquire and edit 10–15 original adult SFF titles annually.
• Participate in all parts of the publishing process.
• Act as a leader and positive influence within the team.
• Collaborate closely with authors.
• Brief cover designers.
• Present selected titles to account reps.
• Create tailored pitches for the publishing process.
