Ziff Davis, the parent company of CNET, is seeking a sharp editor to join the editorial team, focusing on services and software with privacy and cybersecurity coverage. The senior editor will edit guides, product reviews and roundups, and manage freelancers, reporting to the managing editor of the Software and Services team.

The role is fully remote, with a collaborative team spread across Eastern and Pacific time zones.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of editing experience, preferably in digital publishing.
• Experience evaluating online services focused on privacy and security.
• Ability to help readers cut through marketing and highlight practical benefits.

Responsibilities

• Edit reviews, buying guides and news reports from Services and Software writers.
• Assign and edit stories to freelancers.
• Provide structural, content and copy edits, and publish stories under deadline.
• Create headlines and clear descriptions of complex technology.
• Participate in monthly content planning with staff and freelancers.
• Learn about key tech categories to help readers improve privacy and security.
