Springer Nature US is seeking an Associate/Senior Editor for BMC Health Services Research and a BMC series medical journal. The role is hybrid, based in New York or Philadelphia, with responsibility for editorial handling, strategy, and content development across journals.

You will work with Editorial Boards, lead meetings, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure high editorial standards, integrity, and author satisfaction while growing journal visibility.

Qualifikationen

• PhD or MD level in health services research or related biomedical field.
• Substantial editorial experience in scientific publishing.
• Ability to critically evaluate manuscripts for rigor, novelty, relevance, and impact.
• Strong decision-making and objective editorial judgment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and customer-focused approach.
• Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and teams.
• Organizational, prioritization, and project management skills.
• Ability to balance short-term deadlines with long-term strategic goals.

Aufgaben

• Develop a journal development strategy for BMC Health Services Research and related journals.
• Collaborate with Journals Group to support publishing strategies and initiatives.
• Identify, commission, and develop reviews and supplements while building partnerships with the scientific community.
• Oversee editorial handling of manuscripts with rigorous evaluation.
• Make editorial decisions and guide Editorial Board Members.
• Investigate and resolve publishing integrity cases.
• Collaborate with internal teams to resolve issues and maintain author satisfaction.
• Lead discussions with Senior Board Members on strategy and policy updates.
• Support recruitment and onboarding of Editorial Board Members.
• Organize Editorial Board meetings and ensure adherence to policies.
• Partner with marketing to increase journal visibility and engagement.
• Develop website content, blogs, and social media to showcase BMC values.
• Represent journals at conferences and network with the scientific community.
