Springer Nature US seeks an Associate/Senior Editor for BMC Health Services Research and a BMC series medical journal. Based in New York or Philadelphia, this hybrid role supports content development and editorial boards to advance high-quality, open-access publishing.

The role requires a PhD or MD level and substantial editorial experience, with strong communication and project-management skills. Salary ranges from $80,000 to $95,000 annually.

Qualifications

• Educated to PhD or MD level in health services research, public health, or a biomedical discipline.
• Proven substantial editorial experience in scientific publishing.
• Ability to critically evaluate scientific content and assess manuscripts for rigor, novelty, relevance, and impact.
• Strong decision-making and communication skills; customer-focused approach.

Responsabilités

• Develop a journal development strategy for BMC Health Services Research and a BMC series medical journal, using data-driven planning.
• Collaborate with Journals Group colleagues to support publishing strategies and initiatives.
• Identify, commission, and develop reviews, collections, and supplements; build partnerships with the scientific community.
• Oversee editorial handling of manuscripts with high editorial standards and integrity.
• Lead discussions with Senior Board Members on strategy, recruitment, policy updates, and content development.
• Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of Editorial Board Members.
