The ideal candidate has 10+ years of software development experience, strong MUMPS/Caché expertise, and experience with VA systems such as VistA and FileMan, HL7/FHIR, and EDI transactions including 278 and 275.Attachments.

Clearwaters is seeking a Senior EDI MUMPS Developer to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in the development, maintenance, integration, testing, and production support of critical healthcare applications within a legacy MUMPS/InterSystems Caché environment. The ideal candidate will have 10+ years of software development experience, strong MUMPS/Caché expertise, and experience supporting complex healthcare systems, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with business analysts, technical teams, customers, and medical centers. Responsibilities include coding, testing, troubleshooting, requirements support, system integration, technical documentation, and participation in Beta/IOC activities. Experience with VA systems such as VistA and FileMan, HL7/FHIR, and EDI transactions including 278 Prior Authorization and 275 Attachments is highly preferred, along with strong communication skills and experience working in regulated healthcare or government environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions in a legacy MUMPS/Caché environment
• Perform coding, unit testing, and debugging to support ongoing system enhancements and maintenance
• Collaborate with business analysts to translate requirements into technical solutions and provide support for requirements analysis
• Support system, integration, and user acceptance testing
• Participate in Beta (IOC) testing activities with active medical centers, including issue resolution
• Provide ongoing production support and troubleshooting for deployed applications
• Provide documentation of technical designs, processes, and system behavior
• Work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional team to meet project deadlines

Requirements

Required Qualifications

• Candidates must be U.S. Citizens and must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust suitability determination required to support the Department of Veterans Affairs.
• Strong experience developing and supporting applications in MUMPS/InterSystems Caché
• Experience supporting legacy healthcare systems
• Proficiency with software design, coding, and unit testing
• Experience working directly with customers or end users
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
• Comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
• Knowledge of Microsoft products (e.g., Windows, Office, Excel)
• 10 years of direct software development experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) systems, including VistA and FileMan
• Experience with healthcare messaging standards: HL7 and/or FHIR
• Experience with EDI transaction sets, specifically 278 Prior Authorizations and 275 Attachments
• Background supporting or integrating with financial systems
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies
• Healthcare or government system experience
• Exposure to system integration projects in regulated environments
• Experience supporting long-lived, critical applications

Required Education

• BA in Computer Science, Engineering or other related technical field preferred.
