Job summary

Brightcore Energy is seeking a Sr. Embedded Software Engineer to own the edge computing platform behind Brightcore EDGE. You will select and harden edge hardware, manage data logging, and establish OS and security standards for scalable deployments at customer sites.

You will integrate with building management systems and work with facilities teams on control systems while delivering prototypes rapidly. Strong Linux, C/C++, and security skills are required.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5–8+ years in embedded systems, industrial controls, edge computing, or industrial IoT with hardware responsibility.
• Deep experience with industrial PCs and Linux: OS configuration, hardening, networking, provisioning, remote management.
• Working knowledge of BACnet and/or Modbus in building/industrial controls.
• Ability to implement modern security tooling for high-security environments.
• Strong software skills in Python and/or C/C++, Docker, and version control.
• Bias to action with fast prototyping and delivery.

Responsibilities

• Own edge platform architecture from hardware to OS standards for deployments.
• Own data logging, time-series storage, and local compute across sites.
• Design telemetry pipeline from sensors to EDGE platform.
• Integrate edge with building management systems via BACnet/Modbus.
• Collaborate with facilities teams and major vendors on integration.
• Ensure security, remote access, segmentation, and patch management.
• Prototype to deployment: procure equipment, build benches, iterate quickly.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to translate control logic into reliable software.
