Job summary

CoStar Group is seeking a Senior Edge Security Engineer to join the Product Security team in Arlington, VA, or nearby locations. You will manage Akamai Kona WAF configurations, bot mitigation, and perimeter defenses to secure 50+ high-traffic properties across diverse tech stacks.

You will drive edge security strategy, implement policy tuning, and collaborate with Product, Security, DevOps, and Legal teams. The role offers a hybrid schedule with in-office Mon–Thu and remote on Fridays.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
• 4+ years of edge security or CDN security experience.
• Hands-on experience with WAF policy tuning, bot management, and rate limiting on a major CDN.
• Familiarity with OWASP Top 10 and API security best practices.
• Ability to collaborate across Product, Security, DevOps, Legal, and development teams.
• Proficiency in scripting (Python/JavaScript) for automation and reporting.
• Experience with dashboards/log analysis tools (Akamai WSA, OpenSearch, Athena).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Lead CDN security strategy and operations for 50+ web properties; design and tune Kona policies to minimize false positives and protect against OWASP, DDoS, and emerging threats.
• Drive bot management and anti-scraping across the portfolio; design policies, tune scores, and analyze scraper techniques including residential proxies.
• Analyze edge traffic to detect anomalies and respond to security incidents.
• Support secure deployment and scaling of edge security controls across cloud and CDN environments.
• Provide edge security across 50+ high-traffic websites with varied tech stacks and threat profiles.
