Job summary

Renesas Electronics seeks a Senior Edge Applications Engineer to build and deploy edge AI in a hands-on hardware lab. You will prototype sensor rigs, deploy TinyML on microcontrollers, and drive real-world DSP workloads using Renesas silicon.

You will operate in the Reality AI Lab in Columbia, MD, writing embedded C/C++ and coordinating with cross-functional teams to deliver edge AI solutions that integrate hardware and software.

Qualifications

• Hands-on embedded firmware development in C/C++.
• Experience with DSP and real-time processing on microcontrollers.
• Familiarity with TinyML deployment on bare-metal or RTOS platforms.

Responsibilities

• Physical Prototyping & Fabrication: assemble prototype rigs, sensor arrays, and lab setups to capture real-world data.
• High-Frequency Sensor Data Engineering: instrument systems to capture, clean, and preprocess time-series data.
• DSP & TinyML Deployment: build DSP pipelines and deploy quantized TinyML models on microcontrollers.
• Embedded Firmware Development: write real-time C/C++ firmware with DMA and low-level peripherals.
• Customer & Cross-BU Collaboration: work with customers and internal teams to integrate hardware telemetry.
• Technical Leadership & Mentorship: guide junior engineers and document best practices.
