Job summary

Digital Realty seeks a Senior Software Engineer to lead development of industrial automation platforms, embedded control systems, and Edge AI applications powering data center infrastructure. You will work across OT, embedded hardware, cloud platforms, and ML to deliver scalable, reliable solutions.

The role requires experience in PLCs, embedded firmware, edge computing, and ML techniques for predictive insights and operational excellence across global facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Master's degree preferred for advanced roles.
• 5+ years of production-grade software or embedded/automation experience.
• Strong programming skills in C/C++, Python, or related languages.
• Experience with PLCs, SCADA, and industrial networking a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop industrial automation software, control systems, and embedded applications for facility infrastructure.
• Develop PLC programs, HMI interfaces, SCADA integrations, and control solutions for cooling, power, and data center operations.
• Create ML and predictive analytics solutions for fault detection, predictive maintenance, energy optimization, and anomaly detection.
• Develop and deploy Edge AI and ML solutions enabling real-time decision making and operational optimization.
• Architect scalable software platforms, APIs, microservices, and edge computing applications.
• Develop firmware for embedded devices, RTOS or Embedded Linux, and microcontrollers.
• Design and implement closed-loop control algorithms and data acquisition systems.
• Integrate PLCs, embedded devices, BMS, SCADA, and IIoT with cloud-based applications.
• Work with OT, facilities, and engineering teams to deploy automation across global data centers.
• Lead design reviews, mentor engineers, and evaluate emerging automation and AI technologies.
