Job summary

Boston Medical Center is seeking an Echocardiographer to perform non-invasive diagnostic tests for cardiovascular diseases and provide preliminary measurements to support patient care. Under supervision, you will summarize diagnostic data, operate echocardiography equipment, and communicate findings to the manager or requesting physician.

The role includes stress and dobutamine exams, teaching responsibilities, and collaboration with the health care team.

Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of a two-year cardiology or diagnostic sonography program.
  • Certification: ARDMS in echocardiography preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year in hospital echocardiography; 5+ years in stress lab with amyloid patients.
  • Knowledge: Congenital heart disease and sonography equipment.
  • Data: Proficiency in data entry and interpretation of computerized information.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal skills and teamwork.
  • Confidentiality: Protection of sensitive health information.
  • Bonus: Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preliminary echocardiographic measurements and interpret exams.
  • Summarize diagnostic data and communicate findings.
  • Operate phono-apexcardiogram, duplex imaging, and ultrasound equipment.
  • Explain procedures to patients and obtain informed consent.
  • Perform stress and dobutamine echocardiograms, vascular studies, and Holter analyses.
  • Coordinate portable exams and manage daily workflow.
  • Provide guidance to technicians, fellows, and students.
  • Assist with billing charge entry and maintain patient records.
  • Maintain equipment, inventory, and safety procedures.
  • Lead senior administrative duties, including workflow delegation and troubleshooting IT systems.
  • Teach technical staff and contribute to equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Maintain professional growth through education, literature, and workshops.
