Job summary

Mercedes-Benz Research and Development North America is seeking an E-Motor Control Engineer to advance e-motor control systems from concept to production. You will design, validate, and optimize sophisticated algorithms to deliver high performance in electrified vehicles.

Responsibilities include calibration, testing, and collaboration across teams, with a focus on model-based design, simulation, and HIL/dyno validation. A MS in engineering and 5+ years of experience are required; PhD is a plus.

Qualifications

  • MS degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with focus on control algorithms.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in e-motor control for automotive applications.
  • Theoretical and practical understanding of AC IPM/Induction motors and their control.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and refine e-motor control algorithms using model-based design tools with automated code generation.
  • Validate and verify systems via simulation, motor emulator, HIL, and dynamometer tests.
  • Calibrate motor control software to meet performance, functionality, and diagnostic requirements.
  • Design and execute comprehensive test cases for EM-Controls software using automated scripts and manual tests on Dyno, motor emulator, and HILs.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues within E-drive systems ensuring robust performance.
