Job summary

KLA is seeking an experienced engineer in Milpitas, CA, to lead development of high-precision motion control systems for inspection equipment. The role emphasizes real-time firmware, servo tuning, and integration with SW and Mechanical teams.

Applicants should have a strong control-theory background and 5+ years of firmware experience in a real-time environment, with excellent communication skills and the ability to document designs and verification plans.

Qualifications

• Strong background in control theory across linear, nonlinear, digital, robust and adaptive methods.
• Experience in firmware programming and software architecture design.
• 5+ years' FW development in a real-time OS environment using C/C++.
• Experience in servo loop tuning for nanoscale motion systems.
• Ability to analyze motion control requirements and partition system architectures for performance and reliability.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design real-time DSP motion control architectures for high-precision stages.
• Advance motion control for multi-axis systems and servo tuning.
• Write Python and MATLAB scripts to accelerate tuning processes.
• Collaborate with SW and Mechanical teams on subsystem design and integration.
• Create user documentation meeting quality standards for manufacturing and service.
• Support product transitions from development to manufacturing and field deployment.
