Job summary

Collins Aerospace in Cedar Rapids, IA is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer specializing in DSP, FPGA/ASIC design to join the Applied Research and Technology team. You will design and implement advanced signal processing algorithms on FPGA and ASIC platforms to support aerospace and defense systems.

The role requires collaboration across hardware, software and systems engineering, mentoring junior engineers, and leading project design teams.

Qualifications

• 5 years of relevant experience in signal processing or FPGA/ASIC development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued secret security clearance.
• U.S. citizenship required for security clearance eligibility.
• Experience with Simulink and/or MATLAB for DSP modeling and simulation.
• Proficiency in VHDL/Verilog for FPGA/ASIC design and implementation.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement DSP algorithms for FPGA or ASIC systems.
• Utilize Simulink for modeling and simulation of DSP systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, test, and validate DSP algorithms.
• Optimize FPGA implementations for performance, power, and size constraints.
• Conduct system-level analysis and testing to ensure project requirements are met.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Lead project design teams by planning activities and reporting status.
• Integrate signal processing solutions with hardware, software, and systems engineers.
• Stay updated on advancements in FPGA technologies and signal processing methodologies.
