Job summary

Valaris Limited is seeking a seasoned Toolpusher to lead the drilling department, plan QHSE goals, and ensure operations align with well programs and contractual obligations. You will mentor crews, supervise maintenance, and coordinate well control drills, while maintaining open communication with clients and senior staff.

The role requires extensive rig experience and formal Toolpusher training as per Valaris standards, with a focus on safety, housekeeping, and barrier integrity under the VMS

Qualifications

• Ten (10) years rig experience including two (2) years’ proven experience as a Toolpusher.
• Completion of all training and certification requirements for Toolpusher position as described in the Valaris training matrix.

Responsibilities

• Leads the drilling department in planning of goals and objectives for QHSE.
• Ensures operations are planned, organized, supervised, and executed in accordance with well programs, rig move plans, company requirements, and contractual obligations.
• Participates in operational daily meetings; reviews the last 24 hours, previews the next 24/72 hours, and plans for future operations with regards to equipment, personnel, and logistics requirements.
• Promotes and maintains a good working relationship with client representatives onboard.
• Maintains hygiene and housekeeping onboard to Valaris standards with a particular focus on escape routes.
• Organizes and supervises the activities of the drilling department and ensures Valaris work instructions are understood and observed by all crews.
• Ensures all rig/deck crews have the necessary competencies, training, and skills to perform their tasks (through mentoring, appraisal and feedback).
• Supervises all preventive maintenance or maintenance repairs on drilling equipment.
• Plans and coordinates well control drills and ensures well control emergency procedures are fully implemented.
• Creates an environment in which open communications can occur within all departments and with clients and third parties as required.
• Communicates daily to OIM/Master and provides detailed handover at the end of shift and hitch.
• Identified as Barrier Authority (BA) under the Valaris Management System (VMS) for Major Accident Hazards/Process Safety Risks.
