Job summary

Horrocks seeks a Drainage Project Engineer with 7-9 years of experience to lead the planning, design, and delivery of drainage and stormwater projects for public and private clients in Utah. You will manage multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior staff, and ensure designs meet standards.

Proficiency in Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, and InfoDrainage is essential. You will prepare reports and calculations, review submittals, and collaborate with stakeholders to obtain approvals, while

Qualifications

• 7–9 years of progressive experience in drainage and stormwater engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or actively pursuing licensure.
• Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics and drainage design principles.
• Proficiency with drainage modeling software and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the design of stormwater, drainage, and flood mitigation systems.
• Prepare and review drainage reports, technical calculations, plans, and specifications.
• Model hydrology and hydraulics using Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, InfoDrainage.
• Apply local, regional, and national drainage standards and regulatory requirements.
• Identify and manage drainage-related risks and opportunities throughout project development.
• Coordinate with civil, transportation, structural, and environmental teams.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction.
• Support proposal development, scope definition, and business development efforts.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers.
• Review work prepared by others to ensure quality and consistency.
