Job summary

Horrocks is seeking a Drainage Engineer in Idaho Falls to lead the design of stormwater, drainage, and flood mitigation projects for land development and infrastructure. You will mentor junior staff, collaborate across disciplines, and deliver buildable solutions for public and private clients.

The role requires 7–9 years in drainage/stormwater engineering, proficiency with Civil 3D and hydraulic modeling, and an active PE license or progress toward licensure.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• 7–9 years of progressive experience in drainage and stormwater engineering.
• Professional Engineer license or actively working toward licensure.
• Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, and drainage design principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to the design of stormwater, drainage, and flood mitigation systems for land development and infrastructure projects.
• Prepare and review drainage reports, technical calculations, plans, and specifications.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, InfoDrainage, or similar.
• Apply local, regional, and national drainage standards, guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated solutions.
• Review contractor submittals and respond to RFIs during construction.
• Support proposal preparation, scope definition, and business development efforts.
