Job summary

GFT is seeking a Sr. Drainage Engineer to join the Southeast Transportation Group on a hybrid schedule in Orlando, FL or Maitland, FL.

The role focuses on drainage design for highways and roadway projects, incorporating FDOT standards and OpenRoads Designer, with 10+ years of experience required. The candidate will prepare calculations, reports, and permitting docs, perform stormwater modeling, and ensure compliance with state and local regulations while supporting resilient, multimodal

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Transportation Engineering (or related field).
• 10+ years of drainage design experience for highway/roadway projects.
• Proficient in OpenRoads Designer.
• Strong knowledge of FDOT Design Manual, Standard Plans, and Drainage Manual.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Florida or ability to obtain in 6 months (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, specifications, and permitting documents.
• Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, including stormwater collection system analysis.
• Develop stormwater management designs and obtain permits in compliance with state and local regulations.
• Review drainage designs, plans, and reports for FDOT and municipal transportation projects.
• Ensure design quality, technical accuracy, and compliance with applicable FDOT standards and guidelines.
