Job Description:

Antheia is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer to join our Downstream Processing team, where you will play a critical role in developing innovative, scalable processes to separate and purify bio-derived Key Starting Materials and APIs. You'll have the opportunity to work hands-on from bench to pilot scale, solving complex challenges that bring groundbreaking science from the lab to manufacturing. From designing and optimizing processes to supporting technology transfers, you'll directly contribute to delivering high-quality, sustainable products. You'll lead experiments, analyze data, and guide the procurement and maintenance of equipment essential for scaling up processes. This role offers the chance to collaborate cross-functionally with experts in Biology, Analytics, Operations, Manufacturing, and Regulatory teams.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop DSP processes that are shown to be scalable, meet timelines and COGs and scale processes
  • Support tech transfers to Manufacturing providing scalable data to determine equipment fit and process flow.
  • Establish key unit op parameters based on robustness to meet specifications and recovery yields
  • Equipment identification and procurement, for bench to Pilot Scale Process Development and track equipment costs for budgeting.
  • Provide Equipment SOPs, maintenance and ensure continuous DSP processing capabilities
  • Characterize downstream process streams and identify parameters that impact unit op behavior, yield and purity
  • Maintain mass balance data for all DSP processes and ensure mass balance closure. Provide heat and energy balances when needed.
  • Experimental design and data analysis
  • Provide PFDs, P&IDs and basis of design for DSP processes when required
  • Provide and maintain DSP documentation to support process analysis and tech transfers
  • Provide technical leadership for junior engineers and mentorship
  • Comply with safety protocols and ensure the safety of co-workers
  • Comply with Regulatory and DEA requirements when required for handling, disposal and documentation
  • Support project teams to deliver on project goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Chemical Engineering or related field with a minimum 7 years of industry experience specifically within DSP
  • Experience with equipment procurement, commissioning and authoring SOPs
  • Experience leading technology transfers to commercial scale manufacturing
  • Hands on experience with downstream unit operations and proven process scale up
  • Hands on experience at Pilot scale (300-500L)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop teams
  • Must be able to work onsite in Menlo Park, M-F. Local candidates preferred as relocation assistance is not available at this time.
  • Available to travel 15% annually

Nice to haves (but not required):

  • Analytical Chemistry experience a plus
  • Data analysis expertise using tools such as JMP

Additional Information:
Full-time base salary range of $140,000 – $170,000 plus an annual bonus potential and equity opportunities.
