Job summary

Bowhead seeks a Senior Network/ System Administrator for its Vandenberg SFB team. Responsibilities include configuring routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers, plus managing VLANs, IP space, and AD/DNS/DHCP services.

Candidates should have 7+ years in DoD-like environments, a Master’s degree, and DoD 8140 readiness. Expect RMF compliance duties, VDI management, and after-hours support as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years of network and system infrastructure experience in DoD or mission-critical environments.
• Master’s degree in IT, CS, or a related field.
• Must meet DoD 8140 position and certification requirements within six months of hire.
• Ability to provide after-hours support to maintain operational readiness.
• Proficient in VMware/Hyper-V virtualization and enterprise monitoring tools.
• Strong knowledge of DoD network architectures, DISA standards, and RMF processes.

Responsibilities

• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers across LAN, WAN, and data center environments.
• Implement routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP) for secure, efficient, and redundant traffic flow.
• Design and manage VLANs, trunking, link aggregation, and port security for segmentation and performance.
• Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, file/print services, and certificate authorities.
• Install, configure, and maintain VDI environments with profile persistence and access control.
• Perform system and data backups, patching, and recovery testing for continuity and integrity.
