Job summary

ROCHESTER GAS & ELEC CORP in Rochester, NY, seeks a Lead Engineer to develop distribution construction and design standards for electric overhead and underground lines. You will write engineering specifications and lead complex projects with minimal supervision, building deep technical knowledge to advise on cables, switches, transformers, and related equipment.

You will mentor engineers, participate in industry associations, and drive improvements across projects, ensuring compliance with codes

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline from an ABET accredited college/university.
• 7 years’ experience performing engineering duties.
• A professional engineer’s license is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed, complex engineering analyses, designs and calculations using standard methodology & principles and other viable approaches.
• Develop alternate methods or design concepts to resolve problems or to improve processes/services.
• Prepare, maintain, and understand drawings (e.g. schematics, one-line diagrams).
• Develop and specify equipment, assemble documents and other requirements for assignments of complex level of difficulty using in-depth expertise in own discipline.
• Serve as SME for distribution equipment (e.g. cable, transformers, reclosers, switches, poles, fuses, voltage regulators, and capacitor banks).
• Lead engineering teams to complete assigned tasks and projects; mentor engineers in standards engineering methodology.
