Cognizant is seeking a Senior Software Engineer in Atlanta, GA. You will help sustain a high-performance, distributed message routing and transaction platform that runs 24x7. The role emphasizes systems programming on Linux with C, Assembler, Prolog, and related tech.

You will design and maintain CI/CD pipelines, work with cross-functional teams, and mentor juniors while ensuring security and reliability across production environments. The team supports flexible hybrid work arrangements.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of software engineering experience with systems-level development.
• Hands-on experience developing software using C, Assembler, Prolog, or other low-level languages.
• Experience supporting high-performance distributed systems and real-time processing.
• Strong experience with Linux-based development and production environments.
• Experience performing performance analysis, debugging, tuning, and optimization.
• Knowledge of algorithms, computer architecture, data structures, and system performance concepts.
• Experience designing and supporting CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and software delivery processes.
• Experience with software testing methodologies, including unit, integration, and system testing.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience using source control systems and collaborative software development practices.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance high-throughput distributed applications on Linux using C, Assembler, Prolog, and related technologies.
• Support a mission-critical real-time transaction processing platform in a 24x7 environment.
• Perform performance analysis, debugging, and optimization of distributed systems.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines, testing frameworks, and automation solutions.
• Participate in design discussions and contribute to scalable, maintainable solutions.
• Develop tools and infrastructure to test, monitor, and improve large-scale systems.
• Leverage production data to identify performance improvements and optimizations.
• Contribute to code reviews and engineering best practices to ensure quality and security.
• Collaborate with product, QA, infrastructure, and operations to meet requirements.
• Support incident analysis and root-cause investigations to improve reliability.
• Contribute to technical docs, runbooks, and knowledge sharing.
• Mentor junior team members and foster a collaborative culture.
