Job summary

Anduril Industries is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Distribution team. You will design core networking infrastructure in a demanding, scalable mesh environment, connecting thousands of assets with a focus on reliability and low latency.

You will implement features for the Distributed Service Bus, extend the gRPC proxy, and debug complex distributed systems issues across RF links and cloud infrastructure. Must have security clearance eligibility.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in a systems programming language (Rust, C, C++, or Go).
• Strong understanding of networking fundamentals: TCP/UDP, socket programming, MTU, multicast, TLS/mTLS.
• Experience building or maintaining distributed systems (message buses, RPC frameworks, consensus protocols, or similar).
• Familiarity with asynchronous programming models (async/await, event loops, futures).
• Comfort working with Protocol Buffers and/or gRPC.
• Ability to read packet captures and use network debugging tools (tcpdump, Wireshark, etc.).
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new features for the Distributed Service Bus, including gossip protocols and routing.
• Build and extend the gRPC proxy layer for transparent communication over the DSB mesh.
• Debug distributed networking issues spanning radios, UDP/TCP transports, and mesh routing.
• Collaborate with product teams to deploy DSB onto new hardware platforms and support migrations.
• Design protocol-level optimizations for bandwidth-constrained RF links and QoS scheduling.
• Write RFCs and technical design documents for new protocol features.
• Build deterministic simulation harnesses for reproducible tests.
• Improve observability with Prometheus metrics, Grafana dashboards, and dsbtool CLI.
• Contribute to the security posture of the communication layer (ECDSA, encryption).
