Job summary

Anduril Industries is seeking a Software Engineer for the Data Distribution team within the Software Platform group. You will design core networking infrastructure to connect thousands of assets in contested environments, focusing on distributed systems and secure, high-performance communications.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in systems programming languages (Rust, C, C++, or Go).
• Strong understanding of TCP/UDP, socket programming, MTU, multicast, TLS/mTLS.
• Experience building or maintaining distributed systems (message buses, RPC frameworks, consensus protocols).
• Familiarity with asynchronous programming models (async/await, event loops, futures).
• Comfort working with Protocol Buffers and/or gRPC.
• Ability to read packet captures and use network debugging tools (tcpdump, Wireshark, etc.).
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement new features for the Distributed Service Bus and gossip protocols.
• Build and extend the gRPC proxy layer for DSB communications.
• Debug distributed networking issues across RF links, UDP/TCP, and mesh routing.
• Collaborate with product teams to deploy DSB onto new hardware platforms.
• Design protocol-level optimizations for bandwidth-constrained links and QoS scheduling.
• Write RFCs and technical design documents for new protocol features.
• Build deterministic simulation harnesses for reproducible testing environments.
• Improve observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and dsbtool tooling.
• Contribute to security posture including packet signing and end-to-end encryption.
