Job summary

Anduril Industries in Seattle, WA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Distribution team. You will design and build the core distributed networking infrastructure powering the DSB mesh that connects thousands of assets in contested environments.

The role requires strong systems programming skills, experience with distributed systems, gRPC/protobuf, and the ability to optimize for latency and bandwidth constraints. U.S. security clearance is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in systems programming languages: Rust, C, C++, or Go.
• Strong understanding of TCP/UDP, sockets, MTU, TLS/mTLS.
• Experience with distributed systems (message buses, RPC, consensus).
• Familiarity with async programming models (async/await, event loops).
• Familiarity with Protocol Buffers and/or gRPC.
• Ability to read packet captures and use networking tools (tcpdump, Wireshark).
• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement features for the Distributed Service Bus, including gossip protocols and routing.
• Build and extend the gRPC proxy layer for DSB.
• Debug distributed networking issues from packet captures to cloud infrastructure.
• Collaborate with product teams to deploy DSB on new hardware and migrations.
• Design protocol-level optimizations for bandwidth-constrained RF links.
• Write RFCs and technical design documents for new protocol features.
• Build deterministic simulation harnesses for reproducible test environments.
• Improve observability with Prometheus, Grafana, and dsbtool.
• Contribute to security: packet signing, FIPS, and end-to-end encryption.
