Qualifications

• Experience designing and optimizing components in distributed systems with a focus on scalability, resilience, and operability.
• Familiarity with horizontal and vertical scaling, distributed state management, and large‑scale data processing.
• Experience with performance and load testing, fault‑tolerant design, and mechanisms such as redundancy, replication, automatic failover, retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
• Ability to identify and resolve issues using tests, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, runbooks, incident response, and root‑cause analysis.
• Knowledge of automation and Infrastructure as Code for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Experience applying security controls such as encryption and access management, and supporting compliance/documentation standards.
• Track timelines with limited supervision, prioritize work, collaborate across teams, and contribute to continuous learning and improvement.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and improve distributed system components that scale efficiently and operate reliably.
• Develop and deliver features, with performance and load tests, for high‑volume systems.
• Use data plane platforms and distributed state tools to support large‑scale retrieval, storage, and processing.
• Review peer implementations to meet scalability expectations.
• Build fault‑tolerant paths using redundancy, replication, and automatic failover.
• Apply recovery‑oriented design with retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts for network instability.
• Create tests, alarms, dashboards, telemetry, and alerting to detect and address issues early.
• Write and execute runbooks and operational procedures for recovery from failures.
• Design functional features and test scenarios, including fault‑injection and brown‑out testing, to verify correctness and availability.
• Diagnose, debug, and resolve operational issues, including incident response and root‑cause investigations.
• Build automation scripts and tooling for troubleshooting and maintenance.
• Apply encryption and access controls to protect data and applications.
• Help ensure cloud infrastructure meets compliance requirements and that documentation stays current.
• Maintain Infrastructure as Code and other automation tools for managing cloud infrastructure.
• Follow change management procedures for patching, upgrades, and rollbacks.
• Coordinate timelines with other teams and adjust priorities as project needs evolve.
• Contribute to knowledge sharing, continuous learning, and process improvements.
