Job summary

Amazon Development Center U.S., Inc. in Seattle, WA is seeking a senior software engineer to lead the design and implementation of a distributed storage service that operates at scale.

You will contribute from Java-based services to low-level hardware interfacing and work on cutting-edge storage technologies. The role emphasizes mentoring, system architecture leadership, and delivering high-quality, maintainable code in an agile environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with experienced cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market.
• Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment and help lead fundamental changes in the industry.
• Work with other team members to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology and evaluate technical feasibility.
• Take feature specifications and deliver working code that is maintainable and extendable.
• Build distributed storage, index, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low cost, and easy to manage/use.
• Design and code the right solutions starting with broadly defined problems.
• Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software.
