Job summary

ByteDance in Seattle is seeking a skilled systems engineer to design and develop distributed NoSQL databases, focusing on caches, document stores, graph databases, or related models. You will help build high-availability, low-latency services for global users.

You will work with the Infrastructure team to optimize compute and storage for cloud-native deployments, provide guidance to internal teams, and collaborate across groups to deliver robust database products.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in programming languages with strong Linux skills.
• Deep understanding of database principles and distributed systems; multi-threading experience.
• Strong knowledge of distributed consensus algorithms and database kernel development.
• Expertise in performance tuning for high-traffic, large-concurrency environments.
• Experience with large-scale cloud-native architectures and distributed control platforms.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop distributed NoSQL databases, with focus on one of: distributed caches, key-value, document, graph, wide-column, search engines, or multi-model databases.
• Build high-performance, low-latency, and highly available distributed systems for mission-critical operations.
• Optimize compute and storage engines for cloud-native global deployments, improving efficiency and reducing costs.
• Provide technical guidance to internal teams, identifying opportunities to improve stability, functionality, and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop robust database products and solutions.
• Address technical challenges in cloud service architectures to enable scalable, high-traffic systems.
