Job summary

Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to work on the Developer Platform across the database stack, from query planning and execution to durable storage. You’ll influence consistency, durability, and latency guarantees that customer applications rely on.

You’ll define how queries read and modify data, how concurrent transactions become visible, and how durable state is recovered. Expect collaboration across teams and a focus on safe upgrades and incident response.

Qualifications

• Experience with databases, storage engines, or transactional systems.
• Understanding of query execution, indexing, and durability.
• Experience writing concurrent production software in systems languages (Rust/Go/C++).
• Experience operating stateful systems through rollouts and incidents.

Responsibilities

• Improve query planning and execution with indexing and reads/writes optimization.
• Design durable storage paths and define visibility/commit semantics during failures.
• Build deterministic simulations to reproduce rare event orderings and failures.
• Plan stateful upgrades with staged rollout, failover, and recovery without data loss.
• Participate in on‑call rotation and incident response.
• Own major changes from design through production and coordinate across teams.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, debugging, and incident analysis.
